Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. - The University of Memphis men's golf team fired their best round of the Louisiana Classics on Tuesday with an 8-over-par 296, but only managed to move up one place on the final day of play to finish in ninth. Newcomer Thomas Perrot led the Tigers for the second-straight tournament, tying for seventh with an even par 216. Perrot shot a 2-over-par 74 in final round Tuesday. Cory Gaylord and Grant Milner tied for 48th with a 12-over-par 228 after carding a 77 and 74, respectively, in the third round of play. Steve Lee fired his best round score of the tournament with a 74 to tie for 52nd with 229. Will Pearson also improved in the final round, carding a 74 to total 237 and tie for 75th. No. 20 Illinois took the team title with a 2-over-par 866 with No. 14 LSU eight strokes back at 874 (+10). No. 34 Houston edged out No. 38 Tulsa and No. 23 Kent State by one stroke with an 876 (+12) to round out the top five teams. Memphis is back in action next week for Auburn's Tiger Invitational on the Robert Trent Jones Grand National Golf Course, Mar. 11-12, in Opelika, Ala.
