LAFAYETTE, LA. - The University of Memphis men's golf team finished 11th in the Louisiana Golf Classic hosted by UL-Lafayette at the Oakborne Country Club. Memphis, which was 13th after 36 holes, improved two places and finished the tournament with a score of a 26-over par 890.

Southern Methodist, which led after the first day of competition, clinched the title after shooting an even par 864 for the event. Tulsa and Baylor tied for second with an 873, while UT-San Antonio and Texas A&M rounded out the top five with scores of 875 and 878, respectively.

Memphis junior Cobb Andrews fired off a final round of 73 to finish the tournament 11th with a total score of 218. SMU's Jerome Theunis, who shot 70 in the first two rounds, won the tournament after shooting a 73 in the final round for a total of 213. Memphis' Alan Weant, Richard Jones and Michael Prieur all tied for 54th in the event after finishing at 11-over 227.
