The University of Memphis men's golf team is tied for 11th place after the first round of the Furman Intercollegiate, hosted by Furman University at the Furman University Golf Course. The Tigers have an 18-hole team score of 308 and trail team leader Furman, which had a score of 291 on the day.
Conference USA member East Carolina is currently in second place with a 293, while Coastal Carolina and Wofford are tied for third with a 296. Western Carolina rounds out the top five with a 298.
Jonathan Hill of East Carolina and David Sligh of Furman are tied for the individual lead with scores of three under par score of 69. Memphis sophomore Alan Weant and freshman Richard Jones lead all Memphis scorers with 74s.
Second round action is set to begin at 7:30 AM Saturday.
