U of M Falls to 14th in Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

The University of Memphis golf team totaled a final round 323 to finish in 14th in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Brad Benjamin led the team with a three-round total of 231 (79-71-81), good for 36th place.
Jack Belote carded a final round 78 to finish in 45th, while Brandon Bunn struggled to an 82 in the last round, leaving him in a tie for 55th. With rounds of 82 and 84, Jordan Payne and Stefan Erdidi finished in 71st and 80th, respectively.
Mississippi State (300-289-299) held on to win the event, topping South Alabama (306-294-297) by nine strokes. Illinois State (304-293-305), Xavier (300-303-303), and Southern Miss (299-307-302) rounded out the top-five.
In a field of 92 players, Joe Emerich (74-68-73) of Illinois State was the only player to finish under par. His three-day total of 215 was enough to edge Mississippi State's Josh Bevell (73-72-74) by four strokes.
The Tigers next event gets underway Friday, March 27, when they head to Delray Beach, Florida for the Gleneagles Invitational.
