Men's Golf Tied for Sixth After Day One at Memphis Intercollegiate

CORDOVA, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's golf team battled cold and windy conditions at the Colonial Country Club on day one of the Memphis Intercollegiate to sit in a tie for sixth near the end of the second round.
A slow first round forced the teams to wrap up play before completing the second round of play Monday. All teams are through 11 holes with some individuals through 16.
Memphis tied for third after the first round, firing a 16-over-par 304 to tie with Louisville after 18 holes. The Tigers are currently +21 in the second round with Louisiana-Lafayette and No. 43 Ball State surging ahead of Memphis with a -1 and +13 in the round, respectively.
Austin Peay sits alone in first at +23 while Louisiana-Lafayette is in second at +29. Louisville is one stroke back from the Ragin' Cajuns while Ball State is at +34 and No. 46 South Alabama has a +35.
Leading the Tigers on day one was Will Pearson, who is in a tie for seventh after a 3-over-par 75 in the opening round, and is +3 through 15 holes in the second. Thomas Perrot shot a 74 in the first round and is +7 through 14 holes to sit in a tie for 24th, while Grant Milner is at +12 after an 80 first-round total and a +4 in the second round. Cory Gaylord and Steve Lee are one stroke back from Milner after carding a 77 and 78, respectively, in the first round.
Individual Lexus Keoninh has moved up the leaderboard in the second round to seventh with a +1 through 14 holes after a 77 to begin the tournament. John Luke Tyner is also high in the leaderboard at +7 after a 75 in the first round. Erwan Vieilledent is tied for 27th with a +10 following a 77 in the opening round, while Carlson Cox has risen considerably in the leaderboard with a +1 through 15 holes to total +14 for day one. Alex Hoffman rounds out the Memphis participants at a +16 to tie for 64th after an 84 in the first round.
Memphis will complete the second round tomorrow at 8 a.m. before beginning the final round of play at 9 a.m.
