EATONTON, Ga. - Jonathan Fly fired a three-under-par 69 to lead Memphis in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Golf Course at Reynolds Plantation.

"Jonathan was very solid all day," Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said. "We just need to get better play out of the other guys the next two days."

Fly's opening-round total earned him a tie for second position heading into Monday's second round and led Memphis to a 298 (+10) team score. The Tigers are currently in eighth position two strokes behind seventh-place Florida State (296).

"There is a lot of golf left," Robbins said. "We just need to play one shot at a time and let the results take care of themselves."

No. 4 Alabama and Charlotte are tied for the team lead after turning in four-under-par 284's on day one. No. 15 Stanford (289) is in third while 13th-ranked Georgia (291) is tied with tournament-co-host Kennesaw State.

Jack Belote is in a tie for 30th after turning in a three-over-par 75 in the first round. Steve Lee and Grant Milner both turned in five-over-par 77's and are tied for 46th, while Carlson Cox (78) is tied for 56th position.

The Linger Longer Invitational continues tomorrow with the second round. Live scoring is available via www.golfstat.com.
