EATONTON, Ga. - Jack Belote (69) and Jonathan Fly (71) posted subpar scores to lead Memphis into sixth place after two rounds in the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Golf Course at Reynolds Plantation. Fly, who posted a three-under-par in the first round, is in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 140 (-4). Belote's second-round 69 followed a 75 in Sunday's opening round, and the junior from Memphis, Tenn. finds himself in a tie for ninth heading into Tuesday's final round. Belote and Fly led the Tigers to post 287 (-1) in round one as Memphis climbed two spots into sixth place. The Tigers are one stroke behind fifth-place Florida State (296-288--584) and just six strokes out of third place. Steve Lee posted a second-round 73 to climb into a share of 29th individually, and Grant Milner's 74 on day two left him a share of 39th position. Carlson Cox (78-77--155) is tied for 57th. No. 4 Alabama (-14) took a commanding 11-stroke lead after turning in a 10-under-par 278 on day two. Chattanooga (-3), tied with the Crimson Tide after round one, is in second with scores of 284-289--573). No. 15 Stanford (-1) is the only other team under par as the Cardinal posted rounds of 289-286--575. Memphis' tee times range from 9:15 to 9:51 a.m. tomorrow as the Tigers are paired with Florida State and Georgia in the final round. Live scoring is available via www.golfstat.com.
