Jordan Payne and Brad Benjamin fired final round 70's to lead the University of Memphis golf team to a seventh place finish at the inaugural FAU Spring Break Championship. The tournament was held at Gleneagles Country Club, with Florida Atlantic serving as the host school.

Payne started out the round hot, making birdies on two of his first three holes. After carding a bogey on the fourth hole, he made pars on the remaining 14 holes to turn in his second straight 70. His three-day total of 212 (72-70-70) was good enough to land him in a tie for fourth. Fellow senior Brad Benjamin also carded a final round 70, but it was anything but consistent. Benjamin's round included four birdies, an eagle on the par-four 15th, a double bogey, and three bogeys. His final round 70 left him with a three-day total of 218 (75-73-70), good for 14th.

"Jordan and Brad both played well and bounced back from a disappointing finish in Mobile," said Tiger head coach Grant Robbins.

Stefan Erdidi posted a final round 78, leaving him at 12-over-par for the tournament. Jack Belote's and Brandon Bunn's three-round totals of 227 and 231 were good for 60th and 70th place, respectively.

Memphis posted a final round team total of 293, giving them a three-day total of 880 (294-293-293) and leaving them in 7th place.

"We left some shots out there," said Coach Robbins. "But, we will learn from it and get ready for Ole Miss."

#20 Illinois (847) fired a six-under-par 277 team total in the final round to defeat Michigan (861) by 14 strokes. Eastern Michigan (864), Northwestern (871), and Ohio State (873) round out the top-five.

Scott Langley (205) of Illinois fired his second consecutive 70 to hold on for the victory in the individual competition. He defeated Jonathon Brewers (207) of Northwestern by two strokes.

The Tigers' next competition will be the Ole Miss Intercollegiate. That tournament tees off on April 6.
