EATONTON, Ga. - Jonathan Fly carded a two-under-par 70 to claim third place individually and lead Memphis to an eighth-place team finish in the Linger Longer Invitational.

Fly, who was in a tie for fourth position coming into Tuesday's final round, birdied his final two holes to move into third. Jack Belote followed a second-round 69 with a two-over-par 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for 13th position.

"Jonathan (Fly) had a great tournament and was really solid all week," University of Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said.

Grant Milner made six birdies and was four-under-par through 12 holes, but a triple-bogey on the 13th hole forced him to card a final-round 72 and finish in a tie 28th place. Carlson Cox (78-77-78) finished in a tie for 63rd with a 54-hole total of 233.

"We need to get better production from the bottom of the lineup. Counting 77's and 78's makes it very difficult."
Coach Robbins

Memphis finished eighth overall with a 54-hole total of 879 (+15). The Tigers turned in a six-over-par 294 Tuesday as Kennesaw State and Charlotte narrowly passed the Tigers and moved into a tie for sixth place.

"As a team, I was disappointed in how we finished," Robbins said. "We will come home, regroup and get ready for the (BancorpSouth Intercollegiate)."

Alabama (284-278-284--846) took home the title behind the individual performances of Cory Whitsett (64-68-71) and Bud Cauley (72-65-67), who finished first and second, respectively. Chattanooga (284-289-291--864) finished 18 strokes back in second, and Georgia and Stanford each posted tournament totals of 866 to tie for third position.

The Tigers return home before traveling to Jackson, Miss. for the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss April 4-5.
