No. 40 @MemphisMGolf Ends Day One of Memphis Intercollegiate in First Place

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 40 Memphis men’s golf team finished the first day of the 2014 Memphis Intercollegiate with an 11-stroke lead over the next closest team. The Tigers shot a 289 (+1) in the first round at the Colonial Country Club Monday morning and followed that with a 287 (-1) during the afternoon round.
Junior Cory Gaylord leads all golfers after two rounds with a 140 (-4), two strokes ahead of teammate sophomore Florian Loutre who finished round two with a 142 (-2), shooting a pair of 71 rounds. Easton Key of Arkansas State sits tied with Loutre with a 142.
Senior Will Pearson shot rounds of 72 (even) and 71 (-1) to finish the day one stroke behind Loutre in fourth place with a 143 (-1). Freshman Lars Van Meijel finished the day with a 151 (+7). Sophomore Thomas Perrot rounds out the Memphis squad with a 155 (+11).
Freshman David Long leads all individuals with a day of 147 (+3), putting him tied for 12th place overall. Freshman Eithel McGowen and Junior John Luke Tyner each finished the day with 156 (+12) strokes and tied for 50th place.
Third round action will start Tuesday morning with a staggered start on holes 1 and 10, with the Tiger individuals starting on hole 10 and the rest of the Tiger squad starting on the first hole, with Gaylord being the final Tiger to start action, sect to begin at 10:06 a.m. on the first hole.
