Baton Rouge, LA - Memphis senior Alan Weant carded an opening round of two under par 70 to lead all Memphis golfers after the first 18-holes of the LSU Spring Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Weant is currently tied for 14th place.

Blake Bevins of Middle Tennessee State and T.J. Blandford of Furman are tied for medalist honors after both players shot an opening score of six under par 66.

Middle Tennessee State leads the team competition with a score of 14 under par 274. Furman University is second at 278, while Charlotte and South Alabama are tied for third and Jacksonville State rounds out the top five with a 287. Memphis's score of 292 places the team in a tie for 10th entering the second round on Saturday.

Tiger senior David Jeans and junior Richard Jones are tied for 37th place after shooting identical scores of one over par 73 on the first day. Clayton Ellis is tied for 64th place with a 76 and Mike Regenold's 78 has him tied for 80th.
