MADISON, Miss. The University of Memphis golf team carded an opening-round 295 before play was suspended in the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate due to tornado warnings.

The Tigers finished six holes in the second round before lighting and the threat of severe weather forced officials to suspend play. The event will now be shortened to 36 holes with teams returning at tomorrow, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. to complete the second round.

Memphis finds itself in 11th position after one round at Reunion Golf and Country Club, and the Tigers are just eight shots out of the top three. Jonathan Fly and Jack Belote paced the Tigers with opening-round 71's in gusty pre-storm conditions and find themselves in a tie for 12th position.

Lexus Keoninh carded a first-round 76 to grab a share of 48th place, while Steve Lee turned in a 77 and is in a tie for 55th. Grant Milner is in a tie for 73rd position after an 81.

Paced by first-round individual co-leader Phillipp Westermann's 68, Southeastern Louisiana (284) took a one-stroke lead over South Alabama (285). UCF (287) is in third.

Westermann is tied with Lane Hulse of South Alabama for the individual lead, with Michael Whitehead (Rice) and Hunter Hawkins (UAB) one stroke behind in a tie for third.
