April 5, 2010
MADISON, Miss.—Brandon Bunn fired rounds of 71-72 to lead Memphis into a tie for fifth place after two rounds at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate. Bunn is tied for 10th individually heading into the final round at the Reunion Golf and Country Club. Jonathan Fly posted scores of 75-69 and currently sits in a tie for 15th place. Jack Belote is in a tie for 29th position after turning in rounds of 74-72. Lexus Keoninh (74-74) and Carlson Cox (74-75) are in 38th and 44th, respectively. “I thought we fought back well after a tough start this morning,” said Memphis head coach Grant Robbins. “The guys are all playing well and I look forward to us playing a good round tomorrow.” Bunn is competing in just his second tournament of the spring. The senior from Knoxville, Tenn. posted scores of 76-75 to help Memphis defeat Mississippi State in a head-to-head match on March 30. He competed in two events last fall, posting finishes of 36th and 26th at the Golfweek Conference Challenge and the Sam Hall Intercollegiate. Florida posted scores of 272-289 (-15) in the first two rounds to grab a five shot lead over tournament host Ole Miss (281-285). North Florida (286-282) and Louisiana Tech (286-289) were the only other schools to post under-par totals in the first two rounds. Tim McKinney took advantage of sunny skies and opportunistic scoring conditions to post scores of 63-71 (-10) and grab a one stroke lead over teammate Tyson Alexander (63-71). Peter Kellerman of Ole Miss posted rounds of 68-71 to land in third heading into the final round Tuesday. The final round of the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate tees off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
