Tiger Golf in 12th after Day One at Reunion Intercollegiate

The University of Memphis golf team is in 12th place after day one at the Reunion Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss. Senior Jordan Payne led the Tigers at the Reunion Golf and Country Club, shooting rounds of 77-80 on day one. Payne's performance leaves him in a tie for 41st. Three Tigers are tied with a two-day total of 159. Brad Benjamin, Jack Belote, and Jeff Hall are all in a tie for 45th. Brandon Bunn's opening day total of 165 (83-82) has him in 67th place. Reunion Golf and Country club certainly showed its teeth on day one, as the scoring average of the field was nearly 78. Players also had to battle tough conditions with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees and wind gusting up to 25 m.p.h. LSU (297-299) holds a three shot lead over Arkansas (297-302) after two rounds of play. Vanderbilt (306-296), North Florida (314-298), and Southern Miss (311-301) round out the top-five. Adam Hoffamn (71-72) of Vanderbilt leads the individual competition after two rounds. Andrew Leary of Arkansas (72-72) is one stroke back in second.
