Tigers Get Another Top Five Finish At Billy Hitchcock

Opelika, AL - The University of Memphis men's golf team finished in third place at the Billy Hitchcock Invitational and in doing so, had their fourth top five team finish of the 2003-04 season. The Tigers turned in a final round of two-over par 290 for a 54-hole total score of 865.
Memphis junior Allan Thomas shot even par in the final round and with his two consecutive rounds of two-under par 70, completed the tournament in a tie for third place. Thomas, who was four under par going into Sunday's final round, completed the event with a four under par score of 212.
Nick Mackay of Jacksonville State won the medalist title with a 54-hole score of 209. Jonathan Dismuke, the leader after the first two days, carded a one-over par round of 73 on Sunday and finished in second. Matias Anselmo of Jacksonville State tied Thomas for third with a score of 212.
Auburn University won the team championship with after shooting 291 in the final round for a three day score of 859. Jacksonville State shot even par as a team and over took Memphis for second place by one stroke. With the Tigers holding the third spot with a score of 865, Georgia State finished fourth at 868 and Texas A&M rounded out the top five with a 871,
Memphis senior Alan Weant tied for 15th overall after a final round of 72. Sophomore Clayton Ellis shot 73 on Sunday to move into a tie for 23rd, while senior David Jeans also fired a 73 to tie for 30th.
