Tiger Golf Grabs Seventh-Place at Final Regular Season Tournament of 2009

WALLACE, NC - The University of Memphis men's golf team finished the River Landing Intercollegiate hosted by North Carolina State in seventh-place with a total team score of 13 over par 877 at the par-72, 6,942 yard River Course. The Tigers were led by senior Jordan Payne who recorded a final round score of four-under par, 68 to give him a tournament total of a one under par 215. This landed Payne in a tie for tenth-place in the individual standings. Freshman Jack Belote finished in a tie for 36th place at 220 strokes for the tournament with a final round score of 75. Senior Brad Benjamin completed his final round at two under par giving him a tournament total of seven over par 223 and in a tie for 50th place for the tournament. Junior Brandon Bunn rounded out the tournament with three rounds of 75 giving him a tournament total of 225 in a tie for 56th place. Junior Jeff Hall bounced back from his first two rounds of 78 and 79 with a final round 70 to give him a total of 227 for the tournament in a tie for 60th place. The Tigers' three round team total 295-299-283 gives Memphis a seventh-place finish. A final round total of 280 vaulted Duke into the lead by six strokes over host North Carolina State giving them the team title at the River Landing Intercollegiate with a tournament total of 850. The Tigers now prepare for the C-USA Championships held in Orlando, Fla. on Sunday, April 19 through Tuesday, April 20.
