Jonathan Fly and Brandon Bunn Lead Memphis into Share of Second in UK Bluegrass Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky.—Jonathan Fly and Brandon Bunn both carded final round 68’s to lead Memphis into a tie for second place in the UK Bluegrass Invitational. Fly earned runner-up honors individually with scores of 70-69-68, while Bunn finished in a tie for seventh with rounds of 72-71-68. “I thought we played solid all three day,” said Memphis head coach Grant Robbins. “We just needed a few more putts to fall. It’s a great momentum boost as we prepare for (the Conference USA Championship.” Memphis finished tied with Auburn for second position after both teams posted tournament totals of 851. Both Fly and Bunn posted career-low finishes to lead the Tigers to their second runner-up finish of the season. The Tigers also finished tied for second last fall in the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.Fly also led the Tigers in that event with his previous season-low finish of tied for seventh. Lexus Keoninh recorded the second top-20 finish of his career by turning in scores of 72-69-73. Jack Belote (73-71-76) and Carlson Cox (73-73-75) finished in 45th and 57th, respectively. The Tigers were nearly able to beat out Murray State for the team title, but the Racers staved off the Tigers with a final round 288. First round lead Miami of Ohio posted a 295 in the final round and fell to fourth. Memphis now has two weeks off before beginning play at the Conference USA Championship on Sunday April 25.
