Tiger Golfers Are Tied For Ninth After Opening Round Of Championship

Dade City, FL - The University of Memphis men's golf team turned in an opening round score of 308 and is tied for ninth place at the Conference USA Golf Championships being held at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Florida. Nationally ranked TCU leads the event after 18 holes with a score of two-under par 286.

Memphis senior Alan Weant posted a one over par score of 73 to lead all Tiger golfers. He is currently tied for fifth place among all individuals. Allan Thomas is tied for 30th with an opening round 77, while David Jeans and Clayton Ellis are tied for 51st with scores of 79.

Adam Meyer of TCU holds the individual lead after he carded a 68 over the first 18 holes of play. Meyer' teammate Colby Beckstrom is in second with a 69.

TCU holds an 11-stroke lead over second place Houston, 297, entering the second round of competition. Southern Mississippi is third with a team score of 298, while UAB is fourth at 300 and Charlotte is fifth at 301.
