Men's Golf in Eighth Through 36 Holes at C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The University of Memphis men's golf team struggled on the second day of the Conference USA Championships at the Texarkana Country Club, shooting a 15-over-par 303 to drop from fifth to eighth place after two rounds of play.
The Tigers fell to as low as 11th place, but junior Grant Milner carded three birdies on the final three holes to move Memphis up to eighth. After two rounds, Milner is tied for third after a 1-under-par 71 today to bring him to a 140 (-4) for the tournament. SMU's No. 40 Bryson Dechambeau leads the field with a 136 (-8) while Houston's Roman Robledo is one stroke back. Tied with Milner is Houston's Curtis Reed.
Junior Will Pearson finished with a 6-over-par 78 in the second round to fall to a tie for 31st with a 149 (+5). Freshman Thomas Perrot also fired a 78 on day two to total 152 (+8) through 36 holes. Senior Carlson Cox is one stroke back from Perrot after improving in the second round with a 76 to sit in 49th through two rounds. Rounding out the Memphis team is sophomore Cory Gaylord, who is tied for 55th after a 79 today to total 156 (+12) for the tournament.
No. 20 SMU and No. 29 Houston are tied atop the leaderboard at a 10-under 566 while No. 37 UCF is a distant third with an even par 576. UAB is in fourth with 582 while Marshall rounds out the top five with a 583.
Gaylord will get the Tigers started tomorrow with an 8:50 a.m. CT tee time off hole 10. Memphis will be paired with Southern Miss and No. 43 Tulsa in the final round of play. Fans can follow along with tomorrow's action by visiting Golfstat.com.
