TEXARKANA, Ark. - “Jonathan was solid again today,” Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said. “He’s swinging the club very well right now.”

The Tigers blistered Texarkana Country Club Sunday afternoon as all five players turned in rounds of 73 or better to lead Memphis to a seven-under-par 281 and sole possession of second position behind SMU (278).

“The guys played very well today,” Robbins said. “All five are playing really solid right now.”

Steve Lee and Grant Milner both turned in one-under-par 71’s in the first round and are tied for 10th position. Lexus Keoninh’s even-par 72 earned him a share of 17th individually, while Jack Belote is in a tie for 23rd after an opening-round 73.

“We just need to stay focused and play one shot at a time,” Robbins said. “If we can do that, we’ll be in good shape.”

The Mustangs were led by co-leader Max Buckley, who matched Fly’s 67 en route to leading SMU to a first-round 278 (-10). Houston turned in an even-par 288 to take third place, while Tulsa and East Carolina are tied for fourth with opening-round team scores of 289.

Due to a forecast of inclement weather, Monday's second-round action has moved up to begin at 8 a.m. CDT. SMU, Memphis and Houston and will play together, starting at 8:50 a.m. off hole No. 1. East Carolina, Tulsa and UAB will also start at No. 1 beginning at 8 a.m.
