No. 47 @MemphisMGolf Sixth After First Round of American Athletic Championship

INNISBROOK, Fla. – The University of Memphis men’s golf team completed first round action Sunday afternoon at the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Tigers finished the round in sixth place shot 298 (+14) on the par 71 Copperhead Course at the Innisborok Resort.
Senior Will Pearson led the Tigers with a 73 (+2) putting him tied for 13th place, followed closely by junior Cory Gaylord and freshman Lars Van Meijel who both sot 74 (+3) who are tied for 18th place. Thomas Perrot finished the first round with a 77 (+6) on his scorecard, putt him tied for 38th place. David Long rounded out the day for the Tigers with an 80 (+9), putting him in 46th place.
No. 7 UCF leads the 10 team field with a score of 283 (-1). No. 31 SMU sits just four strokes behind UCF with a score of 287 (+3), followed closely by No. 30 South Florida who finished the round with a 290. No. 9 Houston and Cincinnati sit tied for fourth place with a first round score of 292 (+8), just six strokes ahead of Memphis.
Only four golfers finished the first round with a score better than par, led by Linus Vaisanen with a score of 67 (-4). Bryson Dechambeau and Austin Smotherman of SMU and Richardo Gouveia of UCF are tied for second place with a score of 70 (-1).
Round two action will start at 8 a.m. ET, with a staggered start on the first and 10th holes. The Tigers will be a part of the first five groups off the first hole for the second round in a row, this time being paired with golfers from Cincinnati. Complete tee times can be found here.
