No. 47 @MemphisMGolf Finishes Seventh at American Championship

INNISBROOK, Fla. – The University of Memphis men’s golf team completed action Tuesday at the American Athletic Conference Championship, shooting 302 to finish in seventh place with a score of 895 (+43).
The Tigers were led by senior Will Pearson who shot a 73 (+2) on Tuesday and finished the tournament with 217 (+4), putting him tied for 12th place overall.
Sophomore Thomas Perrot shot 76 (+5) on Tuesday to finish the tournament with 226 (+13). Junior Cory Gaylord would finish the tournament tied with Perrot after Gaylord shot a 77 (+6) in the final round on Tuesday.
Freshman Lars Van Meijel rounded out the scoring for the Tigers on Tuesday, shooting a 76 (+5) to finish with a 228 (+15) and tied for 35th place. Freshman David Long shot a 78 (+7) on Tuesday to give him 234 (+21) in the tournament.
No. 31 SMU outshot No. 7 UCF by six strokes in the final round to take the championship with a score of 858 (+6) compared to UCF’s 863 (+11). Bryson Dechambeau took up the individual title with a tournament best 68 (-3) on Tuesday, giving him 206 (-7) and a five stroke margin between him and the next closest golfer.
The Tigers will now await news on their post season hopes the NCAA Selection Show for men’s golf, set for Monday, May 5 at 10 a.m. ET. The selection show will be on the Golf Channel, with news available immediately following on twitter here and on gotigersgo.com.
