Memphis Falls to 11th After Second Round of the NCAA West Regional

PULLMAN, Wash. - The University of Memphis men's golf team fell to 11th place after an 11-over-par 299 in the second round of the NCAA West Regional on Friday afternoon at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
The Tigers now have a 1-under-par 575 through two rounds of action. No. 1 California leads the field with a 541 (-35) while No. 13 USC sits 11 strokes back at 552 (-24). No. 24 Saint Mary's dropped one spot to third at 557 (-19) while No. 11 TCU moving up to fourth at 561 (-15). San Diego State and Pacific are tied for fifth with 563 (-13). The top five teams from the regional will move on to the NCAA Championships, May 28-June 2, in Atlanta, Ga.
Junior Will Pearson leads the Tigers through two rounds with a 4-under-par 140 to tie for 16th after a 75 (+3) today. Senior Carlson Cox and sophomore Cory Gaylord are tied for 34th with 143s (-1) after Cox led the team today with a 72, while Gaylord shot a 76. Rounding out the Memphis team was junior Grant Milner, who carded a 76 to finish 60th through 36 holes with a 149 (+5), while freshman Thomas Perrot is tied for 69th with a 152 (+8) after a 79 today.
