Tigers Open 2002-03 Golf Season In Mississippi

Hattiesburg, MS - The University of Memphis men's golf team is in Hattiesburg, MS, participating in the first tournament of the 2002-03 season and after the first two rounds of play, the Tigers are tied for sixth among the 17 team field. Host institution Southern Mississippi is leading the team competition with a 36-hole score of 569. Sam Houston State is second at 571, while Tulane is third with a 576 and Jacksonville state is fourth at 578. Louisiana-Lafayette rounds out the top five with a score of 585. Michael Soroka of Southern Mississippi holds the individual lead after posting scores of 71-67. Memphis sophomore Richard Jones is tied for 10th place with a one under par score of 143 (71-72).
