MEMPHIS, Tenn. The Tigers have positioned themselves six strokes off the lead, in fourth place of 18 teams, after two rounds at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif. Junior Jordan Payne led the tournament field with a second-round, 4-under par 68, which was eight strokes better than his first round.

Senior Ian Rochester shaved three strokes off his first-round performance to turn in a 1-under par 71, and senior Robbie Greenwell's second-round 70 was a six-shot improvement from earlier in the afternoon. Brad Benjamin (73) and Kyle Ritchie (81) rounded out the Memphis second-round scores. The Tigers' second round 282 was six strokes better than the closest contender, UAB.

After two rounds, Payne holds seventh place overall and Rochester, three strokes back, is in a three-way tie for eighth.

The tournament's final round will be played today. The top eight teams are within 10 strokes of the tournament leader, Baylor University.
