@MemphisMGolf Finishes Seventh in First Tournament of 2013-14 Season

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Memphis men’s golf finished seventh at the Columbia Regional Preview, shooting a 296 in the third round, finishing with an 883 +19. The event was the first of the season for the Tigers, who returned three regular starters from the 2012-13 squad.

John Luke Tyner had the best score for the Tigers on Tuesday, finishing with a one under 71. Will Pearson shot an even 72 and finished the weekend +2 to lead the way for the Tigers overall at the tournament. Thomas Perrot was even after day one but finished Tuesday five over with a 77 in round three. Erwan Vieilledent shot a four over 76 in the third round while Cory Gaylord shot an 80. Florian Loutre competed as an individual and shot 77.

“I’m proud of how the guys competed,” said head coach Grant Robbins. “We are obviously disappointed in the results, but I was pleased with the effort. I really like this team. They have some fight, we as coaches just need to get them better.”

The Tigers return to action September 30 when they travel to the University of Alabama Birmingham hosted Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
