Memphis Tied for Lead at Mason Rudolph Championship

MEMPHIS, Tenn.— Jack Belote posted a career-low 66 in the opening round to lead Memphis into a tie for first place at the 2010 Mason Rudolph Championship. The Tigers posted a 10-under-par 274 in the first round and are tied with Oklahoma. “We played very well in some tough conditions,” Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said. “We still have a long way to go, but we are playing well and look forward to the next two days. Belote’s five-under-par total at Vanderbilt Legends Club’s South Course is the lowest of his career at Memphis. He trails Oklahoma’s Will Kropp (65) by one stroke for the individual lead. Carlson Cox is in a tie for fourth place after turning a three-under-par 68 that included seven birdies. Jonathan Fly also finished the day under par, posting a two-under-par 69 to land in a tie for sixth position. Steve Lee (71) and Grant Milner (73) are in ties for 16th and 38th, respectively. Ole Miss is in third place after posting a two-under-par 282 in round one. Tournament-host Vanderbilt is in a tie with South Carolina for fourth position after both schools turned in one-over-par totals of 285. -www.gotigersgo.com-
