Tigers Finish Eighth at Mason Rudolph Championship
Sept. 27, 2009 NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The University of Memphis golf team posted its lowest two-round score since the 2008 CSU Spring Kick Off to finish eighth at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Jonathan Fly paced the Tigers with rounds of 68-71, earning him a tie for 10th in the rain shortened event. Jack Belote posted a second consecutive 70 on Sunday to finish at (-2) for the tournament, good for a tie for 14th and his first top-20 finish of the season. Jeff Hall carded a (+1) 72 in the second round to post even par for the tournament and finish in a tie for 21st. Carlson Cox (76-71) and Lexus Keoninh (75-72) both posted (+5) 147 for the tournament, leaving them tied for 51st. Middle Tennessee blistered the course in the final round, shooting a team total of (-11) 273 to tie South Carolina at (-12) 556 for the tournament. Because of flight schedules, there was no playoff. Arkansas State (-11) finished third in a field that featured six top-50 teams. Memphis posted a team total of 284 (E) to finish at 567 (-1) for the tournament, good for eighth place. Jonathan Randolph (Ole Miss) followed up his opening round 64 with a 67 on Sunday to post (-11) 131 and claim the individual title. He defeated Ryan Hadelsen (Vanderbilt) and Patrick Rada (South Carolina) by six strokes. Memphis has a break of nearly four weeks before they host the sixth annual Memphis Intercollegiate on October 19-20. The event will be held at Colonial Country Club.
