Memphis Finishes Seventh at Wolfpack Intercolleigate

RALEIGH, N.C.—Jack Belote and Steve Lee both finished with 54-hole totals of 216 to lead Memphis to a seventh place finish at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. Belote (75-70-71) and Lee (73-73-70) finished in a tie for 19th position individually. Memphis posted team scores of 297-287-294—878 at the par-71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course, Tuesday. Grant Milner recovered from an opening round 79 with scores of 71-73 in the second and third rounds to finish in a tie for 44th. Jonathan Fly, who was battling food poisoning, finished in a tie for 64th with scores of 76-73-80—229. Carlson Cox posted rounds of 73-77-81—231to finish in a tie for 73rd. “Steve (Lee) and Jack (Belote) played extremely well,” Robbins said. “Grant (Milner) came back with a great back nine. Jonathan (Fly) was still battling his illness, and we just didn’t get a fourth score. We are going to come home, have a good week of practice and get ready to compete against a strong field at Alabama.” Tournament-host North Carolina State (285-276-283—844) posted a one-under-par 283 in the final round to eclipse day one leader Duke (283-275-290—848) by four strokes. Wake Forest (290-277-288—855) finished third. The Tigers return to the course Oct. 11-12 when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Alabama. -www.gotigersgo.com-
