MEMPHIS, Tenn. - As the fourth annual Memphis Intercollegiate golf tournament got underway this morning at Colonial Country Club's South Course, golfers were prepared for 36-holes of golf with temperatures in the mid-90s. What they got was a thunderstorm-shortened second round and a third round bye.

Play was suspended due to lightning at 4:15 this afternoon, and officially postponed an hour later until tomorrow morning.

With most players finishing only one third of their second round, tournament officials and coaches met and agreed to cancel the tournament's third round to allow teams to keep their flight schedules and to resume play at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

As the field stands, Memphis is tied for second place with Southern Miss and Penn State at two over par. Ole Miss leads the field at nine under par.

The Tigers' Brandon Bunn shot a first round 71 and is in fourth place overall at three under par heading into tomorrow's shortened round. Robbie Greenwell is two strokes behind Bunn and tied for eighth and the end of today's competition.
