Men's Golf Tied for Eighth After Two Rounds at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Memphis men's golf team struggled on the first day of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, posting a 36-hole score of 596 (+20) to sit in a tie for eighth with one round remaining at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh. The Tigers began the day with a 299 (+11) in the opening round before recording a 297 (+9) in the second round of play. Junior Will Pearson led the Tigers in the first two rounds, carding an even-par 72 and a 1-over-par 73 to tie for 12th with a 145 following Monday's competition. Senior Steve Lee was consistent for the day with 75's to tie for 32nd with a score of 150. Tying for 42nd were senior Lexus Keoninh and junior Grant Milner with 36-hole scores of 151. Keoninh shot a 3-over-par 75 in the first round before finishing with a 4-over-par 76 in the second, while Milner came back from a 6-over-par 78 in the first round by ending the day with a 73. Rounding out the Memphis team was sophomore Cory Gaylord, who fired rounds of 5-over-par 77's to tie for 57th. East Carolina leads the field after two rounds with a 577 (+1) while No. 37 North Carolina is one stroke behind with 578. Host North Carolina State is in third with a 587 (+11) while Western Carolina and Maryland are tied for fourth with 589 (+13). The final round of play will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET.
