Oct. 26, 2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Memphis men’s golf team had their start at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate delayed due to weather. What was meant to be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start was delayed multiple times and eventually began at 11 a.m. ET. The 36-hole day was reduced to 18 with 18-holes schedule for Sunday for a new total of 36-holes for the tournament.

The Tigers shot a 9-over-par 297, led by freshman Lars Van Meijel who finished the round 1-over-par and tied for 11th place overall. Sophomore Thomas Perrot and junior Cory Gaylord each finished 2-over-par and tied for 22nd overall. Seniors Will Pearson and Erwan Vieilledent rounded out the scores for the Tigers, both finishing with rounds of 4-over-par.

North Carolina leads the 14-team tournament with an even round on Saturday. Host UNC Greensboro is two shots behind them at 2-over.

Second round action will begin tomorrow, Sunday Oct. 27 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
