No. 33 Memphis Men's Golf Jumps to Third Place Finish at Bridgestone Golf Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Memphis men’s golf team tied for the best round as a team in the Second Round of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Sunday afternoon, pushing the team into a third place finish on the weekend. Freshman Lars Van Meijel shot a tournament-best 6-under-par 66 to help him finish tied for first place as an individual in the field of 80 golfers.
Van Meijel finished the weekend overall with a 5-under 139, tied with North Carolina’s Henry Do for first place on the individual leaderboard.
Junior Cory Gaylord shot a 1-under-par 71 on Sunday, giving him a 1-over 145 on the weekend. Seniors Will Pearson and Erwan Vieilledent shot identical rounds of 73 on Sunday, giving them each 149 on the weekend. Sophomore Thomas Perrot rounded out the Tigers scores, finishing Sunday with a 4-over 76. Perrot finished the weekend with a 150, after shooting a 2-over par 74 on Saturday.
The third place finish is the Tigers second best performance of the Fall, having won the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
The Tigers will finish their fall schedule Monday, Nov. 4 when they compete in the ASU Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
