Tigers Finish Fifth At Rio Pinar Invitational

Orlando, FL - The University of Memphis Tiger golf team shot a team score of 297 in the final round of the Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, FL, and finished in fifth place. The Tigers opened play with a 296 but rallied for the even par score of 288 in the second round. Led by junior Alan Weant, the team shot a 297 in the finals and completed play with a score of 881. Florida Gulf Coast University won this year's team competition with a score of three under par 861. Host school Central Florida was second with a score of 865, while Wofford was third at 875 and Rollins College was fourth with a three round total of 877. Alex Smith of Rollins captured medalist honors with a score of seven under par 209. Weant tied for 9th after carding a score of 72 in the final round and finishing with a total score of 217. Allan Thomas tied for 15th after posting a one under par round of 71 (219) in the finals. David Jeans and Richard Jones both shot 223 and tied for 25th.
