The University of Memphis Tiger golf team turned in their best round of the fall season during the first 18-holes of the Fall Beach Classic, hosted by South Alabama, at Gulf Shores Golf Club. The Tigers shots a team score of two under par 286 during the morning round and came back with a 293 in the afternoon to hold seventh place going into the final round.
Arkansas State University and South Florida are tied for first with team totals of 564, while host South Alabama is third at 570. Southern Mississippi and Western Kentucky round out the top five with scores of 573 and 575 respectively.
Wixson Huffstetler of Arkansas State has the individual lead after 36-holes with a seven under par score of 137. Memphis junior Michael Prieur is tied for fourth individually with rounds of 70-70. He is four under par through 36-holes. Sophomore David Jeans is tied for ninth at 142, two under par.
The final 18-holes are scheduled for Tuesday.
