Mobile, AL - The University of Memphis Tiger golf team played well in tough conditions and moved from eighth place to a fifth place finish at the South Alabama Fall Beach Classic in Mobile. The Tigers turned in a third round team score of four under par 284 and finished with a score of 859, five strokes under par.

Kentucky won the team competition with a 54-hole total of 845. Jacksonville State finished two strokes back at 847. Southeastern Louisiana was third with a score of 848. Conference USA member Southern Mississippi is fourth at 851 and the Tigers rounded out the top five.

Gareth Maybin of South Alabama won individual honors after carding a final round score of 69 to go with his second round 64. Memphis junior David Jeans tied for 12th to lead all Tiger golfers. Jeans shot a final round 68 to move into the top 15. Sophomore Allan Thomas tied for 19th after posting rounds of 74-70-71--215. Alan Weant tied for 34th at two over par 218.
