Jan. 21, 2014

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head Coach Grant Robbins and the Memphis men’s golf program are happy to announce the addition of freshman David Long to the team. Long, who spent the 2013 fall season with High Point University of the Big South Conference, will join the Tigers for the spring 2014 season.

Long competed in all five fall tournaments for High Point in 2013, averaging 73 strokes per round. The freshman finished in the individual top-10 for tournamnets twice during the fall. He was named Freshman of the Week for the Big South Oct. 31, having finished the week tied for ninth at the Bridgestone Golf Invitational after scoring at or under par in 6 of his 11 rounds.

“We are excited to have David join our program,” coach Robbins said. “He had a great start to his college career last fall at High Point and is the type of player that will immediately add depth to our lineup. We look forward to working with him this spring.”

The Tigers will start their 2014 Spring season Feb. 17-18 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, where South Alabama will host action at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course.
