MEMPHIS- The 2008 men's golf spring season will get underway when the Tigers travel to Houston to compete in the Rice Intercollegiate Feb.18-19.

Memphis will be one of twelve teams in action at the Westwood Golf Club. The tournament will be 54 holes, with 36 being played on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday.

"We're very excited to begin the spring season," said head coach Grant Robbins. "The guys have been working hard and we've set some ambitious goals. We're looking forward to getting out there and seeing what happens."

Memphis qualifiers for the event are seniors Robbie Greenwell, Kyle Ritchie and Ian Rochester, junior Brad Benjamin and freshman Stefan Erdedi.

Other teams competing in Houston will be Baylor, Charleston, Louisiana Tech, Nebraska, Pacific, Rice, Southern Utah, Texas, Southern, UC Davis, William & Mary and Winthrop.

The Tigers will have a busy spring as the Rice Intercollegiate will mark the first of eight events that the Memphis squad is scheduled to compete in this spring.
