Tigers Set to Play in Louisiana Classics
March 8, 2009
The University of Memphis men's golf team will travel to compete in the Louisiana Classics this week. The tournament is being played at the Oakbourne Country Club with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette serving as the tournament's host school. The five players competing this week for Memphis will be Brandon Bunn, Jordan Payne, Brad Benjamin, Mark Trow, and Jack Belote. Bunn looks to continue his strong play from the last two rounds of the Tigers' last tournament, the Rio Pinar Invitational. In that event, Bunn fired two consecutive 73's to close out the tournament and finish in 27th place. The field for the event is as follows: Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, New Orleans, North Texas, Rice, Richmond, SMU, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, UALR, UMKC, and UTSA. "We are looking forward to playing in Lafayette," said Tiger head coach Grant Robbins. "It's a great tournament that gets really good support from the community. It's a good opportunity for us to get back on track." The Tigers will play 36 holes tomorrow, March 9th and another 18 the following day. Keep up with the action at www.gotigersgo.com.
