No. 38 @MemphisMGolf Heads to Alabama for the Auburn Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – The Memphis men’s golf program is set to continue with their spring season as they head south to the Auburn Tiger Invitational. The tournament is set for 36 holes on Monday, March 10 and another 18 to finish action Tuesday, March 11.
The Tigers are back in action a week after finishing 7th in the strong field of competition at the USF Invitational. Senior Will Pearson finished tied for 7th, shooting a career best 64 in the first round and finishing with 207. For his performance, Pearson was awarded The American Athletic Conference Male Golfer of the week award.
Memphis will send the same five golfers who competed at the USF Invitational, joining Pearson will be freshman Lars Van Meijel, junior Cory Gaylord, senior Erwan Vieilledent and sophomore Thomas Perrot. In addition to the five team members, sophomore Florian Loutre will compete as an individual.
The freshman standout, van Meijel, was recently named the first Palmer Cup Rankings of the spring, placing No. 9 on team Europe. The native of the Netherlands has already earned share of two individuals titles and helped Memphis to a team title during his short time as a Tiger.
The Tigers will face 14 teams at the Auburn Tiger Invitational, with the host Auburn Tigers fielding two different squads. No. 28 Auburn (A), Auburn (B), Charleston Southern, No. 74 Charlotte, Drexel, Jacksonville St., No. 42 Kennesaw State, No. 38 Mississippi State, No. 54 South Alabama, St. Johns, Temple, No. 75 Troy, No. 77 VCU and Western Carolina will all compete at the 7,149 yard, 72 par, Grand National Lake Course.
