MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Memphis Men's golf team is in 8th place after two rounds of the Coastal Carolina Invitational being played at the TPC of Myrtle Beach.

"It's a difficult course," said interim coach Bob Winn. "We are playing on the same layout that they played the PGA Seniors tournament a couple years ago. At first we were a little disappointed with the way we played, but after seeing how the scoring went, we are right in there with a chance to make a statement by finishing in the top five of this very competitive tourney."

The Tigers 610 (34-over) team score after two rounds puts them in a tie with C-USA rival Louisville for 8th place. Memphis is only seven strokes back of Washington State who sits in 5th place and a push toward the top of the standings is within striking distance for Memphis.

Tiger Golfer Richard Jones shot an even par 72 in Round 1 and shot a 78 (6-over) in Round 2. His 150 (6-over) has him ranked 15th in individual scoring.

UNC-Wilmington leads the tourney after two rounds with a score of 589 (13-over).

The Tiger will play the final round of the tourney tomorrow at Myrtle Beach.
