Grand National Lake Course (Par 72, 7,149 yards)
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday with Auburn's Tiger Invitational at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.
"We are looking forward to playing again this week," said head coach Grant Robbins. "We had a tough go last week and it's good to get a chance to bounce back against another strong field and a great golf course."
The Tigers will face another challenging field this week with six top-50 teams competing in Alabama. Memphis will be joined by No. 21 Auburn, No. 24 Wake Forest, No. 31 Houston, No. 41 Mississippi State, No. 42 Chattanooga, No. 45 North Carolina, Charlotte, East Carolina, Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Samford, South Alabama, Troy and Yale.
Memphis will be represented by senior Steve Lee, juniors Grant Milner and Will Pearson, sophomore Cory Gaylord and freshman Thomas Perrot for the third-straight tournament. Senior Carlson Cox will compete as an individual for Memphis.
The tournament will begin on Monday at 8 a.m. (CT) with a shotgun start on the par 72, 7,149-yard course for the first 36 holes. The final round will begin Tuesday morning as golfers will tee off between 7:45 and 9:50 a.m.
Last Time Out
Memphis competed against six top-50 teams last week at the 28th Annual Louisiana Classics, finishing ninth in a 14-team field. Newcomer Thomas Perrot led the Tigers for the second-straight tournament by tying for seventh with an even par 216. Cory Gaylord and Grant Milner finished in the top 50, tying for 48th with a 12-over-par 228.
The Tigers will host the Memphis Intercollegiate on Mar. 25-26 at the Colonial Country Club in Cordova.
