MURELLS INTL., S.C.- The Memphis Men's Golf team finished an impressive sixth place shooting a 908 (44-over) at the Coastal Carolina Invitational at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. The tourney was comprised of many top golf teams.
The Memphis Men's golf team wanted to make a statement with a top-five finish at a very competitive tournament. Although the Tigers settled for sixth place, their performance was a strong improvement from previous tourneys.
The University of Arkansas won the tournament with a 873 (9-over). They were followed by Virginia Tech (875, 11-over), Central Florida (880, 16-over), UNC-Wilmington (891, 27-over) and Virginia Commonwealth (907, 43-over) who edged Memphis by one stroke for fifth place.
Richard Jones led the way for Memphis by shooting a 222 (6-over) which gave him an 11th place individual finish. Brendan De Jonge of Virginia Tech won the tournament with his 213 (3-under) score.
