LAREDO, Texas - The Tigers conclude day one of the Border Olympics in 13th, after shooting an 18-over-par 594 (297-297). Memphis finished in second in the tournament last year, and is looking to improve on that finish going into the final round.

Memphis finished round one in 10th place, shooting a 9-over-par 297. The Tigers reported 14 birdies and 52 pars in the first round. In the first round, Memphis averaged 3.20 (+4) on par three scoring, 4.20 (+10) on par four scoring and 5.10 (+2) on par five scoring.

After round two, Memphis finished in 13th, reporting 110 pars and 26 birdies. The Tigers averaged 3.22 (+9) on par three scoring, 4.23 (+23) on par four scoring and 4.97 (-1) on par five scoring.

Junior golfer Ian Rochester is leading the way for the Tigers, finishing day one in 22nd place. Rochester shot an even 144 (73-71) and leads the way in pars for the tournament with 30. The junior also is on the leader board for par three scoring, averaging 2.99 (-1). The Cordova, Tenn. native finished the first round in 29th, with a 1-over-par score of 73 (37-36). He finished round one with 15 pars and a 2.75 (-1) par three scoring average.

Robbie Greenwell is the second lowest finisher for the Tigers, finishing in 47th after two rounds. Greenwell shot a 4-over-par 148 (73-75). At the end of the first round, the Georgetown, Ontario native was tied for 29th with Rochester, reporting a 1-over-par 73 (38-35).

The next lowest finisher for the Tigers after day one is freshman Brandon Bunn, shooting a 6-over-par score of 150 (77-73). The Knoxville, Tenn. native made a big improvement from the first round where he finished 66th, reporting a 5-over-par 77 (35-42).

Freshman Mark Trow finished day one in 62nd place, shooting an 8-over-par 152 (74-78). Trow finished the first round with a 2-over-par 74 (37-37), which gave him a 38th place finish.

Junior golfer Kyle Ritchie goes into the third and final round in 78th place. Ritchie shot a 13-over-par score of 157 (79-78) in the second round. The first round wasn't much different for Ritchie, where he finished in 78th place with a 7-over-par score of 79 (41-38).

At the conclusion of day one, Lamar University leads the way with a 21-under-par score of 555 (285-270). Eleven strokes behind Lamar is Vanderbilt University, shooting a 10-under-par 566 (285-281). The individual leading the way is Zack Reeves from the University of Texas-Arlington, reporting a 7-under-par score of 137 (69-68).

The third and final round will tee off tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. Results can be found on the University of Houston's website at www.UHCougars.com.
