MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After a second-place finish at Auburn's Tiger Invitational two weeks ago, the University of Memphis men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday when the Tigers host the ninth annual Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club in Cordova.

"We are excited to be hosting this week," said head coach Grant Robbins. "The conditions look to be very difficult so it's going to be imperative that we keep a good attitude and are patient. We are looking forward to the challenge."

This will be the second-straight year Memphis has hosted the event in the spring. The Tigers won the tournament in its first years in 2004 and 2005 while taking runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2012. Last season, Memphis finished one stroke off of champion Kennesaw State as Will Pearson led the Tigers with a 5-over-par 221 to tie for fourth.

The Field
The Memphis Intercollegiate will include several top teams from around the country this week with No. 29 Texas Tech, No. 35 Vanderbilt, No. 43 Ball State and No. 46 South Alabama. The Tigers come into the week ranked No. 62. Also in the field will be Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, DePaul, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, UMKC, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky.

Memphis Lineup
Memphis will be represented by senior Steve Lee, juniors Grant Milner and Will Pearson, sophomore Cory Gaylord and freshman Thomas Perrot for the fourth-straight tournament. Seniors Carlson Cox and Lexus Keoninh, junior Erwan Vieilledent, sophomore Alex Hoffman and freshman John Luke Tyner will compete as individuals during the tournament.

Event Schedule
The tournament will begin Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on the par 72, 7,249-yard course for the first 36 holes. The final round will begin Tuesday morning as golfers will tee off at holes 1 and 10 at 8 a.m.

The Tigers wrapped up their best finish of the season, taking second in front of five top-50 teams (No. 21 Auburn, No. 42 Chattanooga, No. 31 Houston, No. 24 Wake Forest and No. 45 North Carolina) at the Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Ala., two weeks ago. Will Pearson led Memphis by tying for third with a 2-over-par 218 while Steve Lee took a top-20 finish with a 9-over-par 225 to tie for 17th.
