Tigers Defeat Bulldogs in Head-to-Head Match

WEST POINT, Miss.—Jonathan Fly carded rounds of 67-77 to lead the University of Memphis Tigers past the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a head-to-head match at Old Waverly Golf Course. Memphis carded team scores of 299-299 to defeat Mississippi State by nine strokes. Fly earned medalist honors in the event with a two-round total of 147. Brandon Bunn and Carlson Cox both finished with totals of 151 to finish tied for third. Jack Belote posted an 81 in the opening round but recovered with a 71 in the second round to finish in fifth place. Lexus Keoninh (82-77) and Stefan Erdidi (81-80) finished in 12th and 14th, respectively. Kody Alexander (80-77) and Philip Breeding (80-82), both competing as individuals, finished 11th and 16th, respectively. Mississippi State posted scores of 303-304 in the 36-hole event in West Point, Miss. The Bulldogs were led by Brad Thompson, who earned runner-up honors with scores of 76-73. Lee Heaton and Robbie Calvesbert tied for sixth with totals of 153. Memphis now returns home to prepare for the Ole Miss Intercollegiate on April 5-6.
