Tiger Golf Travels to Oxford for Reunion Intercollegiate
April 5, 2009
The University of Memphis golf team is set to compete in the second annual Reunion Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss. The tournament will be held at the par-72 7,416 yard Reunion Golf and Country Club. The 15-team field includes UAB, Arkansas, Auburn, Jackson State, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Mississippi State, UNCG, North Florida, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and Vanderbilt Jordan Payne, Brad Benjamin, Jack Belote, Brandon Bunn, and Jeff Hall will be competing this week for the Tigers. Payne and Benjamin look to build off their performances last week at the FAU Spring Break Championship. In that event, Payne posted a one-under-par three day total which landed him in a tie for fourth, while Benjamin posted scores of 75-73-70 to earn a 14th place finish. "I look for Jordan and Brad to have a good tournament," said Tiger head coach Grant Robbins. "They both played very well last week and have a lot of confidence." The Tigers will be competing on a prestigious and well-known course this week, as the Reunion Golf and Country club has played host to several big-time events including the 2007 Mississippi State Amateur Championship and the 2007 U.S. Amateur Qualifier. The Tigers begin play at the Reunion Intercollegiate tomorrow, April 6th, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
