No. 41 @MemphisMGolf Travels to California to Compete in The Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Memphis men’s golf team heads west to Santa Cruz, Calif. for their final regular season tournament of the spring, as they take part in The 68th Western Intercollegiate being held April 12-13 at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.
14 teams will compete in the tournament that enters the 68th year of competition. No. 3 Cal Berkeley took the 2013 title with a score of 1051 (+1), beating out mostly west coast teams. This year Cal returns, along with host institution San Jose State, No. 28 Arizona State, No. 39 San Diego State, No. 4 Stanford, UC Irvine, Hawaii, No. 43 Oregon, No. 22 Southern California, No. 12 Texas, UTEP, No. 17 Washington, No. 27 SMU and Memphis.
Play will start Saturday morning with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start with golfers set to complete 36-holes that day. The final round will begin the following morning at the same time also with a shotgun start, but only for 18-holes as the teams complete the third round. Live stats will be available from golf stat results throughout play here. The Tigers are paired in three foursomes to start action Saturday, with two Tigers paired with two Huskies from the University of Washington. Tee times for the entire field can be found here.
The Western Intercollegiate features a change from normal tournaments, with six golfers playing from each school and the five best scores being counted towards the team score.
This will be the 11th tournament the Tigers have competed in during the 2013-14 season, finishing in the top-5 six different occasions.
After the Tigers finish The Western Intercollegiate they will next compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship, starting April 27 in Palm Harbor, Fla.
