TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Memphis Men's Golf Team is looking for a consistent round of golf at the C-USA Championships this week.

The Tiger Golf team's 2003 spring season has been a rollercoaster ride of ups-n-downs. Hoping to finish on an up note this week, if the Tigers play at their highest level, they could sneak up on the field and make a push for a top finish.

Nationally-ranked TCU highlights the 14-team field set compete for the 2003 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship scheduled for April 21-23 at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Tampa, Fla. The Horned Frogs, the C-USA defending champions, are ranked fifth by Golfweek and sixth by Golfworld.

TCU is led by Ben Hogan Award semifinalist and Palmer Cup Team member ADAM RUBINSON and his teammate DAVID SCHULTZ. Rubinson, who is ranked 18th, has five top five finishes to his credit this season, including back-to-back individual medalist honors at the College All-American (71-68-69 - 208) and the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate (67-70-72 - 209). Schultz, the ranked 25th collegiate player, has three top 10 finishes including the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational individual title with a three-round 201 total.

This year's field also includes 2002 all-conference performers, East Carolina's Jason Harris and Tulane's CHRIS WHEELER. Harris won the Georgetown Hoya Invitational during the fall with a two-day total of 135, while Wheeler, the February C-USA Co-Golfer of the Month, won the Beau Chene Collegiate Classic by firing 209. Other golfers to watch are Marquette's NATHAN COLSON, Memphis' ALAN WEANT, SLU's EVAN FREDRICK, USM's JUSTIN EMIL, SHANE RUSHING and MICHAEL SOROKA, TCU's ADAM MEYER and UAB's NATHAN TURNER, all who have tournament wins this season.

The first tee time for each day of the competition will be 8 a.m. (EDT). For the first time in C-USA history, the men's championship will be contested at the same site and dates as the women's championship.
