Men's Golf in Lead at C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The University of Memphis men's golf team leads the field after the first round of the Conference USA Championships being held at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. As a team, the Tigers shot an 11-under par score of 277 on Sunday. Two Tigers are among the six players tied for the lead at four-under-par. Seniors Ian Rochester and Robbie Greenwell each shot a 68 in the opening round. Brad Smith and Zach Sucher of UAB, along with Brady Shivers of Houston and Paul Apyan, will also begin round two with a share of the lead. Memphis sophomore Brandon Bunn shot a two-under-par 70 and is tied for seventh place. Junior Brad Benjamin shot a one-under 71 and senior Kyle Ritchie shot a one-over 73 to help get the team atop the leader board after round one. Benjamin is tied for 11th and Ritchie is tied for 22nd. The Tigers are one of five teams that will begin the second round with scores under-par. Houston is currently in second place after shooting a six-under 282. UAB is in third at five-under. Southern Mississippi is at one-under after 18 holes and Central Florida is at one-under. The tournament champion will receive an automatic berth to an NCAA regional.
